Steven D. Beres focuses on trust and estate administration law and estate planning. As an attorney, he serves a broad spectrum of clientele including trustees, families, and corporate and individual personal representatives. He helps individuals who are in charge of administering trusts and wills, as well as beneficiaries who need help standing up for their rights during will or trust disputes. Additionally, he helps beneficiaries fight creditors who attempt to make unfair claims on wills and trusts. Mr. Beres has considerable experience working with tax issues – a field of law frequently involved in estate planning. He is well versed in fiduciary income tax returns, generation-skipping tax, preparation of estate tax, and gift tax matters. He also assists clients as they respond to IRS audits.
Mr. Beres graduated from Florida State University with honors in 1978. There, he was a member of the Florida State University Law Review. After graduation, he pursued a Master of Laws at the University of Miami School of Law. Today, he serves clients at Crary Buchanan and is board certified in the area of wills, trusts, and estates by the Florida Bar.
Over the past three decades, Mr. Beres has accumulated an impressive amount of estate planning experience. He has prepared more than 3,000 wills, 1,500 revocable trusts, and 200 irrevocable trusts – including life insurance trusts and charitable trusts. Additionally, he has prepared more than 5,000 ancillary estate planning documents, including formal and summary administrations. He has assisted with post-death administration of more than 300 trusts and prepared estate tax returns for gross estates worth up to $100 million.
